Competence vs Competition

Competence is the quality of being competent or capable of performing an allotted function. It is the quality or condition of being legally qualified to perform an act. The mental ability to distinguish right from wrong and to manage one's own affairs. It requires the ability and the capacity to do something extraordinarily.

Competion on the other hand is the act of competing, as for profit or a prize; rivalry. A test of skill or ability for a contest such as a skating or dance competition. Rivalry between two or more businesses striving for the same customer or market.

Does it really mean that being competent or having competence is having to compete with other rivals? To be successfull one needs to be competent enough, especially in our fast pace world today, if you slow down for sure you will be left behind. What does it take to be competent enough to win the competition? Competition is more of a mind-setting. It takes 80% mental and 20% physical to rise it up to the challenge. In any endevour or thing one must set its mind that one can make it then the rest will follow. For if anyone will rest in their laurels, just like in the Philippine folk tales-Juan Tamad, it would one would just wait for the fruit to fall from the tree to his mouth probably would die and still would not have something to fill his stomach. In any given situation one must do what ever it takes just as long as he will not break paths with others needs then probably there would be no beggars around no one would be hungry and there would be peace and harmony, less crime would be committed. About 85% of the crimes committed were rooted to poverty causes.

Everybody needs even a little bit of competition to challenge their inner strength, to bring out the best in every individual.

I like how you've defined competition and competitiveness, however, I don't understand the picture; could you explain it to me?
